A S.T.A.R. Witnessed: An Afternoon with Shalese Heard

"On a blazing hot afternoon in Philadelphia, Shalese Heard and I discuss racism, sexism, sociology research and…fashion? She is immaculately, and loudly, dressed in a bright pink patterned summer dress, her dark hair adorned with a giant pink flower and perfectly matching strappy heels to complete the outfit. Against the heavy heat and industrial backdrop, she stands out like Philadelphia’s City Hall.  She graciously accepts compliments from strangers with a modest smile and a cheerful 'thank you!'"

How Dealers Can Serve Others

"There is always a story behind generosity. It’s not an ulterior motive, but a drive that compels people to help others. On Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, dealerships should take time to reflect on how they are serving others, and more importantly, how they can do it better. For anyone who missed this year’s Day of Service, don’t worry. As Dr. King once said, “the time is always right to do what is right.” Early planning for the next community outreach efforts are the small steps towards a greater purpose."

A World Watched Keenly: Big Martians in a Tiny Town

"Grovers Mill is seemingly unremarkable: an unincorporated town nestled in West Windsor Township, it blends in seamlessly with the Princeton area’s scenic and unique aesthetic. It would be easy to drive right through it without discerning its relevance; however, on October 30, 1938, it was ground zero for a brutal extraterrestrial invasion detailed dramatically by 23-year-old Orson Welles in his broadcasted adaptation of War of the Worlds."

Capturing The Beauty Of A Daydream: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

"The landscapes are breath taking- deep green shadows of the clouds set against a vast expanse of mountains in hues of green and grey, minimizing Walter’s figure as he winds down a remote road on a skateboard he got from a local kid in a trade. Speeding towards the camera in an SUV as the ash of a volcano rolls behind him.  Golden sunlight on a landscape where it always looks like it just rained.  The cinematography in this film is wonderful- the rigid New York symmetry in the beginning of the film gives way to immense and fluid landscapes to reflect Walter’s state of mind as the world unfolds before him."
